Post-Treatment Infection in Severe Burn Patients: A Comparative Review on Dermal Matrices

Artificial dermal regeneration templates have been widely used in burn reconstruction surgery, and this allows subsequent skin graft to be taken more successfully. However, many clinical studies noted instances of infection when testing the effectiveness a specific template. This review aims compare two common that are very different nature -- NovosorbÒ Biodegradable Temporising Matrix (BTM) IntegraÒ Dermal Regeneration Template. Extensive literature search was conducted, rates associated with each template were recorded. Based on articles included, Integra has shown effective method resulted lower rates. While current begun examine use additional settings, long-term evaluations should included future since wound contracture is continuous process.
